Joint Cooperation Agreement Between Tunisia and Algeria in the Electricity Sector

The enhancement of Tunisian-Algerian cooperation in the electricity sector was the focus of the meeting held today, Thursday, between the Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, Fatma Zohra Sheiboub, and the CEO of the Algerian Electricity and Gas Company "Sonelgaz," Mourad Adjal.

The Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy published a statement confirming the strength of Tunisian-Algerian relations and the commitment to achieving economic and social integration between the two brotherly countries.

According to the statement, the discussion touched upon further developing joint cooperation in the energy sector and enhancing the tripartite electrical interconnection between Tunisia, Algeria, and Libya to address various energy challenges, particularly concerning peak electricity consumption during the summer and easing pressure on transmission and distribution networks.

The Minister emphasized the importance of this meeting, which reflects the shared will between the two countries at the highest level, with the aim of developing the foundations of cooperation at all levels, especially in the energy sector, which is considered one of the most vital sectors in economic and social development today. For his part, Mourad Adjal stressed the need for both sides to double their efforts to expand the horizons of bilateral partnership and achieve greater integration and synergy.
