The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, on Monday, imposed emergency measures including a hiring freeze at the organization and prohibiting the approximately 8,000 employees from undertaking unnecessary trips, as well as requesting renegotiation of supply contracts, in response to the U.S. administration's plan, led by Donald Trump, to withdraw from the organization.
Ghebreyesus expressed hope during a regular meeting of the Executive Board in Geneva, which turned into a crisis session, to obtain discounts on the contracts that were renegotiated.
