Keeping Journalist Ziad El-Hani Released

The investigating judge 17 at the Tunis 1 Court of First Instance has decided to keep journalist Ziad El-Hani in a state of release, according to a statement issued by the National Union of Tunisian Journalists today, Wednesday.

Ziad El-Hani appeared this morning, Wednesday, before the investigating judge following a complaint filed by the Municipality of Carthage on charges of "obtaining undue benefit" under Article 96 of the Penal Code, according to the statement.

The National Union of Tunisian Journalists confirmed in its statement that "this complaint comes due to a dispute with the Municipality of Carthage dating back to the late sixties. The investigation into this file with Ziad El-Hani was first conducted in 2023."
