Mediterranean Child Protection Organization Sounds the Alarm

The Mediterranean Child Protection Organization has sounded the alarm following the succession of horrific murders against several victims from the children's category. In a statement released today, Wednesday, the organization recalled two heinous crimes that claimed the lives of a 4-year-old boy and a girl who did not exceed the age of 6, considering that these crimes are part of a series of bloody crimes that children have been subjected to or harmed by. The Mediterranean Child Protection Organization warned against what it described as normalization of killing and violence, considering it a dangerous indicator that could signal societal disintegration. It considered that the current laws or those concerning child protection are no longer deterrent, and that solely security-based handling of such crimes has proven its limitations, especially with the intersection of murder crimes with other crimes, the most important being the consumption and promotion of drugs that deprive the perpetrator of their humanity. The organization called for the preparation of a national project and a proactive protection plan in which the guardian plays a pivotal role in surveillance, awareness, and support. It also became necessary, according to this organization, to activate non-activated penalties for such crimes. The organization appealed to the President of the Republic to intervene to protect and create the necessary legal frameworks to protect children's rights to life safely, recommending that parents exercise the utmost vigilance in surrounding their children, tightening their monitoring both externally and internally. The organization requested judges to impose the maximum penalties on criminals who attack children and take their lives, emphasizing the role of security agencies in conducting proactive campaigns in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and transferring the mentally disturbed and addicts to detention centers or specialized centers to prevent them from committing such heinous crimes. The organization called on media outlets to play their awareness and educational role regarding the dangers of drugs and deviation.
