The United States halts intelligence sharing with Ukraine

post

The Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), John Ratcliffe, announced on Wednesday that the United States has "halted" intelligence sharing with Ukraine amid the ongoing crisis in relations between Kyiv and the White House. President Donald Trump had a heated argument with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, in the Oval Office last week, followed by the suspension of vital U.S. military aid to Ukraine in its confrontation with Russian aggression. Ratcliffe told Fox News: "President Trump had a real question about whether President Zelensky was committed to the peace process." He pointed out that the suspension of cooperation "on the military and intelligence fronts" is temporary, confirming that the United States will work again "alongside Ukraine." On Tuesday, Trump said that Zelensky informed him that Kyiv is ready to negotiate with Moscow and strike a deal regarding minerals. Zelensky sought to bring Trump back to his side, writing on social media that their clash was "regrettable" and that he wanted to "make things right." In his speech to Congress later on Tuesday, Trump read aloud part of Zelensky's letter. He told lawmakers, "The letter says that Ukraine is ready to sit at the negotiating table at the earliest opportunity to move closer to achieving lasting peace. No one wants peace more than the Ukrainians."
