
The death toll from the vehicular attack in Munich, Germany, on Thursday has risen, with the death of a two-year-old child and her 37-year-old mother today, Saturday, due to their injuries, as confirmed by the local police. The police said, "We regret to confirm today the death of the child and her mother, who were among about 39 people injured in the vehicular attack that occurred during a gathering organized by the Verdi union for service workers in Munich." A 24-year-old Afghan man is suspected of carrying out the attack. He arrived in Germany in 2016 and was known to the German judiciary as Farhad N. His full name is Farhad Nouri, according to the daily newspaper Bild. Investigators reported that he confessed and claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that he acted for "religious" reasons. The German police announced that the attacker acted with "Islamic religious motives" and shouted "Allahu Akbar" after being arrested at the scene of the attack. The public prosecutor confirmed that the man is not a member of any known Islamic organization.
