The official spokesperson for the General Directorate of the National Guard, Brigadier General Houssam Eddine Jebabli, revealed that more than 30 minors were recruited through social media networks to join terrorist groups in 2024.
In a statement to the Tunis Afrique Presse Agency, he said, "These networks are heavily relied upon for recruiting young people, in addition to the books and articles they use to attract children," adding that legal cases have been opened in this regard.
The spokesperson for the General Directorate of the National Guard also confirmed that the National Guard, specifically the specialized unit and the Counter-Terrorism Directorate, achieved victories in combating terrorists while securing the Tunisian borders since last year and the beginning of this year.
He explained that a group of terrorists, who are internationally wanted and from their respective countries' agencies, were captured alive. He added that the National Guard units eliminated terrorists, including those who have been in the mountains since 1990 and have assassinated security personnel in neighboring countries. He emphasized that the National Guard units follow a strategy of capturing terrorists alive and bringing them to justice.
He added, "The Tunisian experience through the management of the specialized unit and the intelligence management is pioneering in the field of counter-terrorism, where terrorists were eliminated by the specialized units following intelligence and information work."
