Ministry of Industry Cancels 4 Mineral Exploitation Concessions from Group 4

The Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy has canceled 4 mineral exploitation concessions from Group 4 and established 2 new exploitation concessions within the same group, while also granting new concessions within Groups 5 and 6.

The cancellation and establishment decisions, along with the technical details and geographical boundaries for each concession, were detailed by the Ministry of Industry, Energy, and Mines in the Official Gazette No. 4 for the year 2025.

Group 4 includes natural salts, whether solid or dissolved, in the form of compact deposits or natural saline fluids, such as chlorides, bromides, iodides, borates, sulfates, nitrates, and other salts found within the same deposits. Group 5 includes phosphates.

Group 6 is specialized in rocks with a predominant single mineral composition suitable for industrial applications other than those used in civil engineering, such as china clay, illite, smectite, attapulgite, calcite, dolomite, magnesite, silica, diatomite, flint, and feldspar.

The list of concessions canceled by the Ministry of Industry includes "Bir Makbala," "Wadi Sbat," and "Jabal Hashana" in Tataouine Governorate and "Wadi Al-Shaqqa" in Gafsa Governorate.

The new establishment decisions include an exploitation concession for Group 4 minerals named "Sebkha Sidi El Hani North" in Sousse Governorate and the "Sebkha Sidi El Hani South" exploitation concession in the governorates of Sousse and Mahdia.

The Ministry also approved, on January 10, 2025, the establishment of a research permit for Group 5 minerals known as the "Skarna" permit in the governorates of Kef and Siliana.

On December 26, 2024, the Ministry decided to establish 2 new exploitation concessions for Group 6 minerals known as "Wadi Al-Kusha" in Gabes Governorate and "Jabal Al-Marfq" in Sidi Bouzid Governorate.
