Videos circulating on social media today, Tuesday, showed protesters in the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kinshasa, attacking the French embassy, resulting in a fire in the building.
French media reported that the attack on the embassy came after protests against the escalating conflict in the eastern part of the country.
In response to the embassy attack, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated that the attack in Kinshasa was "unacceptable."
Barrot added that the fire was brought under control after targeting the embassies of Rwanda, France, Belgium, and the United States, with smoke rising above the French embassy building.
