The Israeli army reported that, on Tuesday evening, sirens were activated in several areas in southern Israel following a missile launch from Yemen.
This marks the first time a missile has been launched from Yemen toward Israeli territory since the Gaza ceasefire agreement went into effect on January 19. It also follows violent Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip earlier today that left hundreds of people dead and injured.
The Israeli Home Front stated that sirens sounded in Beersheba, Dimona, and several towns in southern Israel.
Israeli media reported that missiles were launched in various areas to intercept the missile. Channel 12 indicated that air defense systems intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Yemen before it entered Israeli airspace.
Additionally, Israeli medical services reported that several individuals were injured while heading to shelters after sirens were activated in the Negev.
Channel 13 added that the Yemeni missile was aimed at the Negev, coinciding with a graduation ceremony for army officers.
