American airline JetBlue announced on Tuesday the discovery of two bodies in the landing gear compartment of a plane that was operating a flight between New York and Florida.
The company explained that the two unidentified bodies were discovered on Monday during a routine inspection after the plane landed in Fort Lauderdale. An investigation has been launched to determine how the two individuals managed to sneak into the plane's landing gear compartment, which took off from John F. Kennedy Airport in New York.
The company did not provide details regarding the plane's destinations before its flight within the United States.
Previously, undocumented migrants have attempted to stow away in the landing gear compartments of planes, often in dangerous attempts to flee from one country to another. On December 24, a body was found in the landing gear compartment of a United Airlines plane that had flown between Chicago and Maui, Hawaii.
