A judicial document submitted by the White House stated that Elon Musk is not an official employee in the "Office of Management and Budget" and "has no formal authority to make government decisions." Widely regarded as the world's richest man, Musk is, de facto, the head of the "Office of Management and Budget," a body created by U.S. President Donald Trump, which sought to significantly reduce government spending, including by cutting thousands of jobs.
Trump announced in November that "Elon Musk will lead the Office of Management and Budget."
According to the judicial document submitted by the director of the "Office of Management and Budget," Joshua Fisher, Musk is "an employee of the White House... as a special, non-permanent government employee" and "a senior advisor to the president."
Fisher added that "like other senior advisors to the White House, Musk does not have actual or formal authority to make government decisions by himself. Musk can only advise the president and convey the president's decrees."
