Denial of Visa for Tunisian Journalists' Union President to Travel to UAE

post

The Journalists' Union announced in a statement published today, Saturday, January 11, 2025, that the Union President, Ziad Al-Dabbagh, was denied a visa to travel to the UAE to attend the Arab Journalists' Union meetings scheduled from January 12 to 16.

The National Union of Tunisian Journalists explained that they received an invitation from the Arab Journalists' Union to attend the permanent office and general secretariat meetings. They were surprised by the denial of a visa for their president, Ziad Al-Dabbagh, to attend this event and exercise his right to participate in an important meeting of the union, where the Tunisian union holds a general secretariat membership.

In their statement, the union held the Arab Journalists' Union partly responsible, stating that it should have ensured beforehand with the host country that all guests would be treated equally, as required by the protocols for organizing such conferences.

The union emphasized that the visa denial has a political nature and aims to punish the union for its stance on Arab normalization with the Zionist entity and its absolute and principled support for the Palestinian people's struggle to establish a unified state on the entire land of Palestine, including the adoption of armed struggle as a path to liberation.
