Hassna Jeballah: Many Economists Describe Public Companies as a "Tax Haven"

post

Hassna Jeballah, Secretary of State to the Minister of Employment and Vocational Training in charge of public companies, said today, Tuesday, that many economists describe public companies as a "tax haven" due to the unprecedented tax advantages they offer, and that their private financing is open through 11 financial institutions. This statement was made during a regional forum in Tataouine on public companies, attended by the governor of the region, Amir Al-Qabsi, and a large number of local and regional officials, as well as managers and members of public companies in the region.

In a statement to "TAP," the Secretary of State indicated that the incorrect marketing of these companies has caused Tataouine to fall behind other governorates. She explained that regional authorities are currently working to correct the course with the support of the ministry to overcome this situation.

She said, "We will be partners in this through many awareness-raising media and experts to help the region invest in many promising sectors," noting the great responsiveness shown by various parties in the governorate.

She indicated that the visions of public companies at the regional level are pioneering and are progressing steadily to achieve added value at both the local and regional levels.

She stated that 147 companies have obtained a tax identifier, 42 of which have received funding exceeding 13 million dinars at the national level. She confirmed the readiness of banks to finance public companies, but some are waiting for the funding amount to increase to one million dinars instead of the current 300,000 dinars.

The Secretary of State explained that public companies can be created in all fields and may include promising and innovative fields in artificial intelligence and modern technologies, noting that they will be a tributary of local and regional development, with economic and social impacts at the regional and national levels. They will contribute to reducing the unemployment rate and creating decent job opportunities for the sons of Tunisia to protect them from illegal immigration and stabilize them in their areas in accordance with the specificities of each region.

During the forum's activities, Mustafa Ben Yahya, an advisor at the office of the Minister of Vocational Training and Employment, gave a presentation on "Public Companies: Economic and Social Dimensions."
