The German Research Centre for Geosciences confirmed today, Saturday, that an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 shook Ethiopia, east of the capital Addis Ababa, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the first earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale occurred 23 kilometers north of Awash, at a depth of 10 kilometers beneath the surface.
About 10 minutes later, another earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6 on the Richter scale occurred near the city of Metahara, at a similar depth of 10 kilometers.
