The Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday the postponement of the emergency Arab summit on Gaza, which was scheduled for next week, to the 4th of March, citing the need to complete "preparatory arrangements" for it.
The ministry stated in a statement, "The Arab Republic of Egypt will host the emergency Arab summit on the developments of the Palestinian issue on March 4, 2025, in Cairo, as part of completing the logistical and preparatory arrangements for the summit."
It pointed out that the new date was set "after coordination with the Kingdom of Bahrain, the current president of the Arab League Council at the summit level, and in consultation with Arab countries."
The invitation to the summit came after U.S. President Donald Trump proposed controlling the Gaza Strip, which has been devastated by the war waged by Israel on the strip, and displacing its residents to neighboring countries, particularly Egypt and Jordan.
The proposal faced widespread regional and international rejection and prompted a rare unified Arab movement.
It is scheduled that Riyadh will host a mini-emergency summit on February 21st, involving the six Gulf Cooperation Council countries, as well as Egypt and Jordan, to discuss the response to Trump's plan.
