The General Health Union intends to carry out a strike on January 23 in the private health sector to demand the issuance of amending annexes for wage increases for the years 2022, 2023, and 2024. In a strike warning letter addressed to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Health, and the President of the Tunisian Union of Industry, Commerce, and Handicrafts, the union stated that the strike action comes after exhausting all reconciliation efforts through correspondences. The union indicated that the strike, if implemented, will include private health sector institutions, including private pharmacies, wholesale drug distribution institutions, private clinics, and dialysis centers.
The union also stated that the strike will maintain emergency services and that private health sector workers will wear red armbands in the mentioned institutions to demand wage increases for the past three years.
