US President Joe Biden stated that the wildfires in Los Angeles have caused so much damage that they can be compared to a war zone, saying, "The fires reminded me of places where military operations take place after bombing."
He also emphasized that there are clear signs of looting in Los Angeles, criticizing those who try to take advantage of the misinformation surrounding the disaster.
Biden's remarks come as the fires continue for the fourth day, consuming several suburbs of the second-largest city in the United States.
The fires started last Tuesday in an area located 40 kilometers north of downtown Los Angeles and gradually expanded due to strong winds.
So far, the fires have resulted in the deaths of 10 people, destroyed 10,000 homes and buildings, and vast agricultural areas, and forced over 137,000 people to evacuate.
Los Angeles authorities said today that 58,000 buildings are at risk due to the fires, adding that evacuation orders have been issued for about 153,000 people.
