On Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump said that the rare metals agreement would be the basis of the future relationship between the United States and Ukraine.
During a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the White House on Thursday, Trump said, "We will help Ukraine defend itself, and this is worth Kyiv paying for."
He added, "The agreement with Zelensky will make America a partner in developing Ukrainian minerals, especially rare ones, as well as oil and gas."
He continued, "American taxpayers will recover the money they spent on Ukraine."
Trump emphasized that the meeting with Starmer was very fruitful regarding the ceasefire in Ukraine, highlighting that the United States is working hard to end the war in Ukraine, noting "rapid progress."
