First Case of Monkeypox Recorded in France

The French Ministry of Health announced the first case of the new 1b strain of monkeypox in the country. 

In a statement, the ministry said: "The French Ministry of Labour and Health received information about the first human case of the 1b strain of monkeypox in the country in Brittany." 

It is noted that the infected person had not traveled to Central Africa, where different strains of smallpox are actively spreading, but had been in contact with two individuals who returned from Africa. 

The statement mentioned that an investigation is currently underway to determine the source of the infection and identify all contacts. Previously, confirmed cases of the new strain of monkeypox were reported in Sweden, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Belgium.
