US Government Offers Financial Incentives for Employees to Resign

post

The administration of US President Donald Trump offered financial incentives to government employees to resign from their positions yesterday, Tuesday, January 28, 2025. The "Deferred Resignation" program will provide eight months' salary to employees who submit their resignations by February 6, 2025.

The offer was sent to employees via email, and those interested in resigning were asked to reply with the word "resignation," according to what was reported by Al-Hurra channel. The offer includes all civilian employees except those working in immigration, national security, and US Postal Service employees.

The number of civilian employees in the US federal government is about 2.3 million, excluding postal employees. This offer is part of a plan by President Donald Trump to restructure the government and rationalize expenses.

On the other hand, President Trump ordered the suspension of all federal grants and loans starting Tuesday evening. In a memo issued two days ago, Matthew Faith, acting head of the Office of Management and Budget, which oversees the federal budget, said that funding would be halted while the Trump administration reviews grants and loans to ensure they align with the new president's priorities.
